2011 Siemens Awards for AP Winners

The 2011 national student winners are Albert Wu, a senior at The Harker School in San Jose, California and Ramya Rangan, a senior at The Harker School in San Jose, California. Each one is a reminder of the importance of recognizing STEM education.

The Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement are awarded each year to students with the greatest number of scores of 5 on eight AP math and science exams.

New Jersey State Senate Honors Advanced Placement Winners

On May 20, a ceremonial resolution was presented before the voting session of the NJ State Senate to the Siemens Award for Advanced Placement winners. New Jersey Senators Kyrillos, Cunningham and Goodwin honored national male student winner Joshua Ma, High Technology High School, Lincroft, NJ; male NJ state student winner Dennis Lu, Holmdel High School, Holmdel, NJ; female NJ state student winner Tracie Kong, West Windsor Plainsboro High School, North Plainsboro; and NJ teacher winner Chumki Gupta, Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School, Jersey City.

Note: There is no application or nomination process for the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement.

The College Board identifies the students for the Siemens Foundation. The recipients of the awards are notified in the winter.

Scholarships & Awards

Students:
If you've earned scores of 5 in AP science and math, you may be eligible for a $2,000–5,000 scholarship.

Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 are awarded to students from each of the 50 states who have earned the greatest number of AP scores of 5 in eight exams. Each state potentially has two winners, one male and one female. Two additional national winners (one male, one female) are awarded a $5,000 college scholarship. The exams are:

Students may be awarded a state or national AP award only once, although state winners may be considered for the national award in subsequent years.
