Siemens Science Day in Washington, D.C.

On June 14, Malcolm X Elementary School, a designated STEM Catalyst School, is hosting a once-in-a-lifetime Science Day assembly for their students presented by the Siemens Foundation and Discovery Education. Discovery Education’s Chief Spokesperson for Environmental Education, Philippe Cousteau and science guru Steve Spangler led students in a spellbinding and interactive assembly that engaged and entertained aspiring scientists of all ages. Spangler showed students how they can conduct science experiments in the classroom and at home, while Cousteau highlighted the importance of science in everyday life, examine the recent environmental disaster in the Gulf and show students how they can succeed in exciting science careers.

Most importantly, the interactive demonstrations helped reinforce the significant role that science plays in our daily lives. A teacher training session was provided on how to incorporate the assignment in the classroom as well as the activities available on the Siemens Science Day website.
